First Day of Distance Learning: Tomorrow, Monday, April 6th @8:30

Good evening families,

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow we are beginning our Distance Learning! Students must add the Distance Learning class to their Google Classroom account. The Distance Learning Class Code is: nkia3en
Once on Distance Learning, students will have an assignment on Kahoot! to complete. It should take less than 15 minutes. They will then use the Zoom link in Distance Learning to join our class. We will be meeting from 8:30-11:30. We will complete math, language arts lessons, and a novel study together. Students will then complete P.E. (20 min.), IReady (15 min.), and MobyMax Science (15 min.), and their reading log independently in the afternoon.
For students, that enjoy GoNoodle, they can stay on Zoom with me for an additional 20 minutes to complete GoNoodle dances which will fulfill the P.E. requirement.
The sessions will be open at 8:00, for students that want to make sure that they are able to log on. Please send me a message on Classtag or send me an email @ heather.winslow@hesperiausd.org  if your student is struggling to get on.
Please bear with me as we might have a few bugs to work out this first week. I am so looking forward to getting our class up and running again!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Winslow :0)

Distance Learning Update

Hello families,
Yesterday, our lead teachers and administration had a meeting to iron out the 'whats' and 'hows' of Distance Learning. Here are the takeaways:
* Distance Learning will begin on Monday, April 6th.
*Chromebook pick up will be Thursday, April 2nd from 11:00 to 11:45. We are asking parents to write their student's name on a piece of paper and drive through the designated pick up area. Parents will pop their trunks and we will place the student's Chromebook and other material in the trunk.
* Packet pick up will be next Friday, April 7th from 11:00 to 11:30 for families that do not have internet access.
*Please fill out this quick form so I can get everything ready for my students:
Here is a link to the District's plan for Distance learning:
Monday, the 4th grade team is meeting to work together to make it all happen. For the week of March 30th to April 3rd the District is asking that students use the following link to access ELA and math lessons:
I would still love to have a parent meeting using Zoom, but first I need to meet with my team. So, by mid-week, I should have the answers to your questions and I will schedule it.
Please let me know if you need anything.
Thanks,
Mrs. Winslow :0)

Distance Learning through May 4th

Good morning families,
I just wanted to give you an update on the district's plan for distance learning. Starting on Monday, March 30th (the week after Spring Break), the students will be participating in distance learning through May 4th (4 weeks). In order to make this a success, the students will be needing their Chromebooks. The district is looking at the best way to make this happen. Some supplies that you may want to gather are small whiteboards, notebooks, and pencils.
I will be using a platform called Zoom. With Zoom, I will teach directed lessons to students and will be able to provide direct support. The lessons will also be recorded and I will post them, so the students can go back and refer to the lessons as they work independently on assignments. I will be taking attendance with each session.
At the beginning of the week, I will be sending the students a weekly lesson plan. On the first page, it will have the standards we will be working on with a link to a page for each day of the week. All the assignments and links will be at the students' fingertips and because they will be using their Chromebooks, we won't be experiencing log in problems.
Students will be receiving grades and must complete the assigned work daily. They will also be filling in a digital P.E. log and reading log. My goal is to provide the students will a comparable experience to what they would be receiving in class.
I will be sending out a link to a Zoom parent meeting. This way, we can all have a face to face meeting and I will answer any questions that you have. I will have two sessions, one in English and one in Spanish. I will also have one for the students, so they can see each other and we can talk about the upcoming changes.
I appreciate each of you and together we will make distance learning a success.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Winslow :0)

Here is link so students can use GoNoodle at home. Students should be exercising about 20 min. a day for their health. GoNoodle is one way to do this. Here is the link for you:

Welcome

Welcome!
As our school is closed for the next two weeks here is a link to online learning:

4th Grade Distance Learning

For additional learning, student would also benefit from using Khan Academy for 15 minutes daily. We were beginning our Geometry unit. The lessons will give students a preview of what we will be working on when we get back.

Here is the link:Khan Academy
Our class code is: RF58FX8Q

Students would also benefit from working on IReady daily as well. The lessons are specifically picked to help your scholar make advances in reading. Students will need to go to Clever. From there they will use Google to log in. Students will use their student email and password to log in.

Please let the students know that I am thinking of them. Hoping to see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Winslow :0)
